Fishing Regulations

Please Note: Vaughn Lake is a Provincial Fish Sanctuary from December 31 to June 14 because it's the main spawning grounds for Lac Seul's Walleye.

Walleye & Sauger Regulations:

  • Open Season: June 15 to December 30
  • Limit - Sport License: 4 in your possession
  • Limit - Conservation License: 2 in your possession
  • Size Restrictions: Only one greater than 21 inches and non between 18 and 21 inches
  • Restrictions: Vaughn Lake is only open for fishing June 15 to december 30. Prior to June 15 the whole lake is a fish sanctuary.
  • Possession: No person may possess any live fish taken by angling other than bait fish. Please contact us for an explanation of this regulations or view Lac Seul's Fishing Regulations (pdf)

    Northern Pike Regulations:

  • Open Season: Open all year
  • Limit - Sport License: 4 in your possession
  • Limit - Conservation License: 2 in your possession
  • Size Restrictions Sport License: Zero pike between 27.6 and 35.4 inches. Only one greater than 35.4 inches.
  • Restrictions: Vaughn Lake is only open for fishing June 15 to November 31

    Smallmouth Bass Regulations:

  • Open Season: All Year
  • Limit - Sport License: Dec. 1 to June 30, 2 in your possession less than 13.8 inches - July 1 to Nov. 30, 4 in your possession (no size limit)
  • Limit - Conservation License: Dec.1 to June 30, 1 in your possession less than 13.8 inches - July 1 to Nov. 30, 2 in your possession (no size limit)
  • Restrictions: Vaughn Lake is only open for fishing June 15 to November 31

    Yellow Perch Regulations:

  • Open Season: Open all year
  • Limit - Sport License: 50 in your possession
  • Limit - Conservation License: 25 in your possession
